The San Juan Water Conservancy District (SJWCD or District) has been involved in numerous projects and studies to conserve, maximize and utilize the water resources of the San Juan River and its tributaries. Prominent among these projects include:
- Extensive water needs analysis, including multiple reservoir site studies throughout the upper San Juan Basin;
- Participation in the southwest cloud-seeding program;
- Preservation of water ditch rights for agricultural and ranch users;
- Rio Blanco River Restoration Project;
- San Juan River Restoration Project; and
- Stevens Reservoir Enlargement Project.
